Coast Guard responds to boat taking on water
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is responding to a vessel taking on water approximately 40 miles south of Choctawhatchee Bay in Destin, Florida, Monday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report at 5:50 a.m. that the Jean Marie, a 50-foot fishing vessel, was taking on water.
Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Destin 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew and a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew in response.
The boat crew arrived on scene at 7:36 a.m. and assisted in patching the leak and dewatering the vessel.
The Station Destin boat crew took the vessel in tow.
The boat crew transferred the tow of the vessel to Coast Guard Station Panama City who will complete the tow in Panama City.
