Coast Guard rescues person in the water
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued a man in the water north of Barataria Bay, Louisiana, Friday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report from a Plaquemines Parish Marine unit at 3:17 a.m. of a man who had fallen from a 20-foot center console boat into the water.
Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew at 3:26 a.m. and a Coast Guard Station Grand Isle 24-foot Special Purpose Craft boatcrew at 3:27 a.m.
The boatcrew located the man along the bank at 5:15 a.m. and recovered him good condition. The survivor was transferred back to his vessel and escorted to Myrtle Grove, Louisiana by a Plaquemines Parish Marine unit.
