Coast Guard medevacs 53-year-old man from Catalina Island

SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 53-year-old man from Catalina Island Monday morning.

At approximately 6:22 a.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received notification from Los Angeles Medical Alert System of a non-maritime medevac of a 53-year-old man suffering from internal injuries.

After consulting with the duty flight surgeon, watchstanders at Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach diverted a Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Forward Operating Base Point Mugu to respond.

The aircrew arrived on scene, retrieved the man and transported him to Long Beach Airport. Emergency medical services took him to Long Beach Memorial Hospital where he was reported to be in stable condition.
