WARRENTON, Ore. — A Coast Guard aircrew hoisted a 65-year-old passenger, who was suffering from a possible stroke, from the charter vessel West Wind 40 miles west of the Columbia River entrance, Saturday.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Astoria safely transferred the passenger to the air station, where waiting emergency medical service personnel then transported him to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Columbia River received a report at 1:07 p.m. from the charter vessel crew that one of their passengers was experiencing a complete loss of short term memory, and the aircrew launched in response.
