Coast Guard tows disabled vessel near Destin Pass
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard towed a disabled vessel from 22 nautical miles southwest of Destin Pass, Florida, Saturday.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile watchstanders received a notification at 11:05 p.m. Friday of a disabled 23-foot vessel with five people on board.
Watchstanders diverted a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing crew to establish communications with the vessel through a good Samaritan in the vicinity.
A Coast Guard Station Destin 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew was launched and arrived on scene and took the vessel in tow 1:20 a.m.
The boat crew towed the vessel back inside the inlet where it was transferred to Sea Tow 33 at 4:02 a.m.
There were no reported injuries.
