Coast Guard assists disabled vessel taking on water near the Throgs Neck Bridge

 

NEW YORK – Crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Kings Point assisted an 18-foot pleasure craft near The Throgs Neck Bridge in the Bronx, New York, Thursday.

At 1:35 p.m., the station boatcrew discovered a disabled vessel with two people aboard and sent two Coast Guard crewmembers aboard discovering it had approximately one foot of water in the bilge.

The Coast Guard boatcrew towed the pleasure craft to City Island in the Bronx, N.Y.

Instances like this are part of the reason the Coast Guard has vessels patrolling the waters of the United States. Our mission is to protect the public, the environment, and U.S. economic interests.
