MIAMI — The Coast Guard rescued five boaters Saturday from a capsized vessel approximately 3 miles west of Alligator Reef Light.

At approximately 2:22 p.m. watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West received notification that a 18-foot pleasure craft with five boaters was taking on water. The watchstanders issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and diverted a Coast Guard Station Islamorada 33-foot Special Purpose Craft crew.

The SPC crew arrived on scene at approximately 2:30 p.m. and recovered all five people. They were transferred to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crews.

All boaters were reported to be in good condition and the owner of the vessel is arranging for commercial salvage.
