SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard Cutter Narwhal (WPB 87335) received a new commanding officer during a change-of-command ceremony in Corona Del Mar, Friday.
Lt. Jamie S. Kim, the commanding officer of the Narwhal, relinquished command to Lt. j.g. Kumar BrunhartMcBratney during a time-honored military tradition that formally transfers and ensures continuity of command.
BrunhartMcBratney reports to the Narwhal from his previous tour serving as the operations officer aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Monomoy (WPB 1326), an 110-foot patrol boat homeported in Woodshole, Massachusetts.
The Coast Guard Cutter Narwhal is a Marine Protector Class coastal patrol cutter and is homeported in Corona Del Mar. The Narwhal is one of the smallest multi-mission patrol vessels employed by the Coast Guard.
