Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile change of command

MOBILE, Ala. A Coast Guard Captain is scheduled to take charge of Coast Guard Aviation Training Center (ATC) Mobile during a change-of-command ceremony Friday morning.

WHO: Capt. William E. Sasser Jr. is scheduled to relieve Capt. Thomas S. MacDonald and take command of ATC Mobile.                        

WHAT: A change of command is a ceremony in which all responsibilities of the commanding officer of Coast Guard Station South Padre Island will be transferred.

WHEN: Friday, June 30, 2017, at 10:30 a.m.

Capt. MacDonald served as the commanding officer of ATC Mobile since the summer of 2014. He was responsible for all aspects of Coast Guard pilot and aircrew training, and the continuous operational response for Coast Guard District Eight. Capt. MacDonald will assume the responsibilities of Chief of Coast Guard Office of Aeronautical Engineering in Washington, D.C.

Capt. Sasser is reporting from Alameda, Californa where he served as the Executive Assistant to the Commander of the Coast Guard’s Pacific Area.
