The Coast Guard rescued two people, two dogs in Lake Pontchartrain

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued two people and two dogs from a disabled vessel in Lake Pontchartrain, Monday.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 2:00 p.m. that one adult, one child, and two dogs were aboard a disabled inflatable vessel that had started to lose air near the Twin Span and I-11 Bridge in Lake Pontchartrain.

Coast Guard Station New Orleans launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew and Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans diverted a MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew.

Both assets arrived on scene and the Station New Orleans boat crew transferred both people and their dogs to the 29-foot Response Boat-Small and recovered the inflatable vessel and took all parties safely to shore.
