Coast Guard medevacs man, 27, from fishing vessel 60 miles west of Venice

A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew medevacked a 27-year-old man Saturday, June 24, 2017, 60 miles west of Venice, Florida. The Jayhawk crew hoisted the man and transported him to Tampa General Hospital for further care. (U.S. Coast Guard video)

VENICE, Fla. — The Coast Guard medevacked a 27-year-old man Saturday 60 miles west of Venice.

Medevacked was Steve Wager.

Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watch standers received notification at 7:40 p.m. via VHF-FM radio channel 16 stating Wager was suffering symptoms of a seizure while aboard a 35-foot fishing boat with four other boaters.

A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew was launched at 8:13 p.m.   

The Jayhawk crew arrived at 9:12 p.m. and hoisted Wager. They transported him to Tampa General Hospital, arriving at 10:50 p.m., for further care.
