ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. — Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Kellee M. Nolan relieved Cmdr. Robert H. Gomez as commanding officer of Coast Guard Cutter Elm during a ceremony in Atlantic Beach Friday.
Gomez was promoted to commander during the change-of-command ceremony. He will report to Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C., where he will work in human resources.
Nolan most recently served at Coast Guard Pacific Area in Alameda, California, where she completed three years as deputy for cutter forces and the polar icebreaker platform manager.
Her personal awards include a Coast Guard Commendation Medal and three Coast Guard Achievement Medals. She also holds a merchant mariner’s license, a Professional Association of Dive Instructors license and First Aid/CPR Instructor certifications.
