Coast Guard conducts non-maritime medevac of 7-month old baby
SAN PEDRO -- The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 7-mont old baby from Catalina Airport to Long Beach Airport, Monday.
Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watchstanders were notified by Baywatch Avalon at 4:28 a.m., that an infant was experiencing symptoms of pneumonia and had difficulty breathing.
Watchstanders immediately launched a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Forward Operating Base Point Mugu to conduct an emergency medical evacuation.
The helicopter crew safely transported the baby and its mother to Long Beach Airport where emergency medical services from Long Beach Fire Department were waiting. The mother and baby were taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital. The baby was reported to be in good condition.
