Coast Guard rescues 3 people from capsized sailboat near Washington, D.C.
BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard rescued three people from a capsized sailboat near Washington Sunday evening.
A 29-foot Response Boat-Small II boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Washington was patrolling the upper Potomac River when they received a report from a good Samaritan stating a sailboat capsized with two people in the water and one person clinging to the overturned hull.
Once on scene, the Coast Guard crew recovered two adults and one child.
A vessel from Washington Sailing Marina arrived on scene and righted the sailing vessel.
The two adults were transferred back to their vessel. They were safely escorted back to Washington Sailing Marina.
No injuries were reported.
