CHARLESTON, S.C. — Members of the media are invited to attend Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton’s change of command ceremony scheduled for Monday, at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in North Charleston.
During the ceremony Capt. Scott Clendenin will transfer command to Capt. Mark Gordon. Clendenin has served as Hamilton’s commanding officer since April 2015.
Gordon comes to Charleston from the 7th Coast Guard District in Miami, Florida, where he held the position of chief of enforcement.
The change of command ceremony marks a transfer of total responsibility and authority from one individual to another. It is a time-honored tradition, conducted before the assembled crew, as well as honored guests and dignitaries in order to formally demonstrate the continuity of the authority within a command.
Media interested in attending will need to be vetted prior to accessing the facility and are asked to fill out the following form (FORM HERE) and email it to padetjacksonville@uscg.mil. All vehicles entering the facility will need to be screened.
