JUNEAU, Alaska— A Coast Guard Station Juneau smallboat crew and two Capital City Fire/Rescue EMTs transported a woman experiencing breathing complications from the cruise ship Regatta, near Juneau, Tuesday. 

The station's 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew transported the woman to awaiting emergency personnel in Juneau.

Coast Guard Sector Juneau watchstanders received a report from the crew of the Regatta, a 592-foot cruise ship, that the woman was experiencing breathing complications. Watchstanders consulted the duty flight surgeon and directed the launch of the station's RB-M.

“It was great to partner with Capital City Fire/Rescue for this case," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Nancy Emery, a crewmember aboard the response boat. "Taking EMTs with us allowed us to provide the woman with care during transit and work quickly to transport her to the ambulance."

The weather on scene was reported as calm seas and 2-mph winds.
