Station New London boat crew assists in MEDEVAC west of Gardiners Island, N.Y.
NEW YORK — A Coast Guard Station New London boatcrew assisted in the medical evacuation of an injured man west of Gardiners Island, New York, Monday.
Watchstanders at Sector Long Island Sound received notification of an injured passenger aboard the fishing vessel Sunbeam V, who was temporarily unresponsive.
Sector watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium (RB-M) boatcrew from Station New London.
The RB-M intercepted the Sunbeam V and embarked a Coast Guard EMT to monitor the situation. The EMT reported the subject was stable and helped transfer him to Waterford Emergency Medical Services once the fishing vessel moored at the Sunbeam Fleet dock in Waterford, Connecticut.
