WARRENTON, Ore., — The Coast Guard rescued an injured beachgoer after she fell from the rocks sustaining substantial injuries to her arms and leg near Brookings, Ore., Thursday.

The woman was met by a Curry County Sheriff’s Office ground crew who prepped her for Coast Guard helicopter transport to Brookings Airport where they were met by Life Flight.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Bend received notification of the injured woman who fell from the rocks on a beach near Chetco Point Park stating that her injuries may require further transport to a higher level of medical care.

The Watchstanders directed the launch of the Sector North Bend MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew as well as a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew from Coast Guard Station Chetco River.

“After coordinating with the local responders, a helicopter transport was decided to be the best means of rescue,” said Lt. Cmdr. Anna Steel of Sector North Bend. “Fortunately, we have the assets that allowed us to get this woman to the help she needed and we are thankful to our local first responders for helping expedite this rescue.”

Weather on scene at the time of the incident was reported as 10 mph winds and partly cloudy skies.
