PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads personnel hosted students from Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, for an educational tour on Base Portsmouth, Thursday.

The 39 QUT students are pursuing master's degrees in complex program leadership and visited Sector Hampton Roads to learn about the Coast Guard's missions, structure and interagency response strategies.

Sector Hampton Roads and Port Authority of Virginia personnel presented students with information about risk management, stakeholder engagement and change management.

"We're trying to understand how complex organizations come together to deliver outcomes," said Tim Larsen, student at Queensland University of Technology. "The way the Coast Guard manages stakeholders and navigates overlapping jurisdictions is impressive."
