Coast Guard assists 3 mariners on vessel taking on water

NEW YORK — The Coast Guard assisted three mariners after their boat began taking on water in Moriches Bay, New York, Sunday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound received a report from Station Shinnecock stating one of their 29-foot Response Boat-smalls (RBS) was flagged down by a 21-foot vessel which was taking on water in Moriches Bay, New York.

The RBS boatcrew assisted the mariners with dewatering efforts and safely towed the vessel up the Forge River to the owners residence.

No injuries or pollution were reported.
