Coast Guard crewmembers administer first aid to 50-year-old boater at Fire Island

NEW YORK – Coast Guard Station Fire Island crewmembers administer first aid to a 50-year-old man at Station Fire Island, Long Island, New York, Thursday afternoon.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sounds received a report from Station Fire Island at 12:33 p.m., that a 22-foot white pleasure craft pulled into the station boat basin with an man aboard who was in need of medical attention.
Station crewmembers administered first aid to the 50-year-old man with a knee laceration at the dock, and notified West Islip Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
The man and his son, were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital by West Islip EMS in stable conditions.
The vessel owner’s cousin is arranging to retrieve the pleasure craft from Station Fire Island.
