Coast Guard continues search for missing woman approximately 30 miles west of Cay Sal, Bahamas
MIAMI – The Coast Guard continues to search Tuesday for a woman approximately 30 miles west of Cay Sal, Bahamas.
Missing is Isabella Hellman, of Delray Beach, who was last seen at about 8 p.m. Sunday. Coast Guard watch standers were notified Hellman was missing after crews rescued her 41-year-old husband, Lewis Bennett, from a life raft after he abandoned their 37-foot catamaran Surf into Summer.
Rescue crews have searched more than 3,400 square miles for more than 48 hours.
Crews who have searched include:
- A Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew
- A Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew
- Three Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crews
- Two Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater HC-130 Hercules airplane crews
- Coast Guard Cutter Kathleen Moore crew
- Coast Guard Cutter Charles David, Jr. crew
- Coast Guard Cutter Isaac Mayo
- A Cuban Border Guard boat crew
