Multi-agency search for boater in Helms Cove

PHILADELPHIA-The Coast Guard, local and state first responders are searching for a missing boater near Helms Cove, New Jersey, Sunday.

Watchstander’s at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay received a notification from Delaware City Fire Department that one person was rescued and one was reportedly missing after a paddle boat overturned at approximately 2:20 p.m.

A 29-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Philadelphia was dispatched and is on-scene assisting in the search

An MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City was also dispatched to aid in the search.

Also searching are members of Delaware State Police,  Delaware City Fire Department.
