Coast Guard medevacs man
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a man near Breton Sound, Louisiana, Sunday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report at 3:14 p.m. of a 70-year-old man suffering from stroke like symptoms aboard the fishing vessel RED EAGLE.
Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew at 4:28 p.m. The aircrew arrived on scene at 4:45 p.m. but were unable to hoist the man and lowered a rescue swimmer to stay with the man.
The RED EAGLE transited the man to Coast Guard Station Venice where the MH-65 aircrew was able to hoist the man and rescue swimmer.
The aircrew transferred the survivor to West Jefferson Hospital in Marrero, Louisiana, at 7:23 p.m.
The survivor’s condition is unknown.
