Coast Guard rescues people aboard vessel taking on water
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued two people aboard a vessel taking on water near Venice, Louisiana, Thursday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a call at 1:04 a.m. reporting a fishing vessel, which grounded on a reef with two people aboard.
Watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Station Venice 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew and the Coast Guard Cutter Razorbill crew at 1:39 a.m.
The Razorbill and station boatcrews arrived on scene at 4:46 a.m. The Razorbill crew recovered both people.
One survivor was reported to be displaying hypothermic symptoms. The Razorbill crew is transferring the survivors to Emergency Services in Gulfport, Mississippi.
