Coast Guard to establish safety zone for Key West Paddle Classic
MIAMI – The Coast Guard is scheduled to establish a temporary moving safety zone Saturday for the 2017 Key West Paddle Classic.
The safety zone is scheduled to begin Saturday at 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. about 100 yards on each side of race participants in the waters surrounding Key West.
The safety zone is in place to ensure the safety of participant vessels, spectators and the public during the event. This regulation prohibits individuals and non-participant vessels from entering, transiting through, anchoring in, or remaining within the safety zone unless authorized by the Captain of the Port Key West or a designated representative. There will be approximately 200 paddle boaters during the event.
For more information on the security zone visit the Federal Register website.
