Coast Guard medevacs woman from cruise ship
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a woman from a cruise ship 260 nautical miles south of Southwest Pass, Louisiana, Sunday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders were notified at 11:36 a.m. of a 52-year-old female aboard the cruise ship Carnival Valor in need of a medevac.
Watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew at 1:46 p.m. and diverted a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew for cover flight.
The MH-65 aircrew arrived on scene at 4:16 p.m. and transported the survivor and a nurse from the cruise ship to West Jefferson Hospital in New Orleans at 6:31 p.m.
The survivor was reported in stable condition
