Coast Guard medevacs woman, 71, from cruise ship Carnival Ecstasy
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Coast Guard medevacked a 71-year-old woman Friday from the cruise ship Carnival Ecstasy approximately 75 miles east of Daytona.
Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville Command Center watchstanders were notified by the crew of the Carnival Ecstasy at 1:12 p.m. stating a passenger had fallen and suffered a head injury.
A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater helicopter crew launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter at 3:47 p.m. The helicopter crew arrived on scene at 5:14 p.m., hoisted the passenger along with a nurse from the cruise ship and transported them to Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
