YANKEETOWN, Fla. — The Coast Guard rescued three boaters Wednesday after their vessel capsized near Crystal River.

Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg Command Center watch standers were notified at 3:45 p.m. via 911 transfer stating two women and one man capsized about a mile north of the barge canal in Yankeetown.

A boat crew aboard a 24-foot Rescue Boat from Station Yankeetown was launched at 3:46 p.m.

The boat crew arrived on scene at 4:21 p.m. and witnessed a woman in the water
clinging to the hull of the boat, and a man and another woman on top of the overturned boat. The boat crew recovered all three people and transported them to the barge canal’s boat ramp where EMS was waiting.

No injuries were reported.

“The boat is currently capsized and remains anchored,” said  Lt. Jason Holstead, command duty officer at Sector St. Petersburg. “All mariners are reminded to use caution when transiting the area.”
