Watch standers at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg were notified at 10:45 a.m. Friday of a 52-year-old man suffering abdominal pain aboard the cargo ship Clipper Talent.

A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Clearwater launched and medevacked the man at 12:45 p.m. and transported him to Tampa General Medical Hospital.

At 5:09 p.m., watch standers at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg were notified of a 47-year-old woman also suffering abdominal pain aboard the commercial fishing boat Miss Irene.

A separate Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Clearwater launched at 6:07 p.m. The air crew arrived on scene at 7:07 p.m., hoisted and medevacked the woman to Tampa General Hospital.

"I am very happy we were able to quickly locate and get these people the urgent care they needed," said Lt. Cmdr. Chris Rosen, search and rescue mission coordinator at Sector St. Petersburg. "The fact we were able to hoist and medevac two people in a short time is a testament to our communication and teamwork between Air Station Clearwater and our command center."
