Coast Guard responds to possible vehicle in Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana

 

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is responding to a report of a possible vehicle in Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana, from a multiple car accident at approximately mile marker three of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Bridge on the northbound lanes, Thursday.

Watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received the report from the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Police Department at 3:48 a.m. after a damaged guardrail was discovered on the northbound lanes of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.

Involved in the search are:

  • A 29-foot response boat-small crew from Coast Guard Station New Orleans
  • An MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans
  • The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway Police Department
