Coast Guard rescues four men from disabled boat

 

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued four men from a disabled boat in Drum Bay, Louisiana, Thursday.

Watchstanders at the Eighth Coast Guard District command center in New Orleans received a report of a disabled vessel in Drum Bay with four men aboard at approximately 10:04 p.m.

After losing communications with the boat, Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to assist the four people.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene at approximately 11:58 p.m.

The crew deployed a rescue swimmer, hoisted three of the men and transported them to awaiting emergency medical services at Air Station New Orleans in stable condition. After refueling, the helicopter crew returned to the boat and hoisted the rescue swimmer and the remaining man who was taken to awaiting emergency medical services at Air Station New Orleans in stable condition.
