Coast Guard medevacs man from boat off Sabine Pass, Texas

HOUSTON — A Coast Guard boat crew medevaced a 45-year-old man from an offshore supply vessel, 14 miles off the Texas Point Wildlife Refuge, Wednesday morning.

At approximately 7:45 a.m., Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a report from the 120-foot boat, Poppa John, stating a crewmember fell and broke a leg and an arm and was experiencing extreme pain.

Watchstanders launched a Station Sabine 45-foot response boat crew with an EMT aboard to meet the vessel as it got closer to shore.

Once the man was transferred to the response boat, he was taken to Station Sabine where EMS was waiting.

He was reported in stable condition.
