Coast Guard boatcrew rescues person in the water in Bellingham Bay, Wash.
SEATTLE – A Coast Guard Station Bellingham boat crew rescued a person in the water in Bellingham Bay, Wash., Sunday evening.
The Station Bellingham 29-foot Response Boat Small II crew arrived on scene to assist a man struggling in the water and safely transported him back to the station where local Emergency Medical Services personnel waited at the station to transfer him to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center.
Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound watchstanders received a request for assistance from 911 dispatch at approximately 6:30 p.m., stating that a male was struggling and flailing his arms after wading into the waters of Bellingham Bay 20 minutes earlier.
The station boat crew arrived on scene five minutes after being directed by sector personnel to respond to the situation.
Weather at time of the incident was reported with a water temperature of 46 degrees and 10 mph winds.
