Coast Guard releases final F/V Orin C investigation report
BOSTON — The Coast Guard Thursday released its Major Incident Investigation (MII) report into the death of a fisherman who died Dec. 3, 2015, when the fishing vessel Orin C sank 20 miles east of Cape Ann, Massachusetts.
On Dec. 14, 2015, the MII investigation board was initiated to inquire into the facts surrounding the mishap. They concluded the cause of death was drowning, and the cause of the sinking of the ORIN C was progressive flooding from an unknown source on the vessel.
The MII report is an official government record. It is not a legal determination of the Coast Guard’s position concerning this mishap. A copy of the report is publicly available in the Coast Guard’s FOIA reading room at https://www.uscg.mil/foia/FOIA_Library.asp.
