Updated Import Requirements for Species of Pinus
Please be advised that the import requirements for species of pinus for use as firewood have changed.
Pinus sp. for use as firewood importations have been updated to the following requirements:
The wood must be from a Mexican State adjacent to the United States to be admissible. These states include:
- Baja California
- Chihuahua
- Coahuila
- Nuevo Leon
- Sonora
- Tamaulipas
This commodity is subject to inspection at the port of entry and all requirements of 7 CFR 319.40-9
Commercial shipments of mesquite wood from Mexican States adjacent to the United States for use in cooking, as firewood or wood for personal cooking or medicinal purposes requires an importer document stating that the wood is derived from trees harvested in States in Mexico adjacent to the United States border.
