On behalf of National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Port Huron is sharing the attached NHTSA Compliance Requirements Bulletin: Operation of Uncertified Vehicles by Registered Importers.

Initial “Informed Compliance” measurements and notification will begin Monday, September 29,2025, and carry through to Wednesday, October 29, 2025, where CBP Port Huron may exercise discretion for violations of 49 CFR Part 592 as part of a 30-day informed compliance period.

Beginning Thursday, October 30, 2025, uncertified motor vehicles presented for commercial import via Port Huron MI that do not meet the requirements of 49 CFR Part 592 will be subject to enforcement action as described in NHTSA Compliance Requirements Bulletin: Operation of Uncertified Vehicles by Registered Importers.
