CSMS # 63290523 - UPDATE and REMINDER – An updated USDA APHIS (Core) PGA Message Set Implementation Guide is now available. Changes go into effect December 10, 2024.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Animal and Plant Health Inspection announces the availability of Service (APHIS) Implementation Guide (IG) version 6.3, which can be found here: https://www.cbp.gov/document/guidance/aphis-ace-pga-message-set-implementation-guide-core

This version is the final update for the transition rule updates removing the use of category code 702, and characteristic qualifier codes FRC, FRF and SHR. Code 702 will be replaced with 702A, 702B and 702C. The new characteristic qualifier codes will be FRS (Fresh), Cut (fresh cut) and QFR (Quick Frozen).

These updates will be deployed to CBP’s ACE Production environment on December 10, 2024.

Additionally, a draft ARM APQ Plant Inspection Station Technical Rule has been added to the table. This rule will require producer or grower information for products as part of the propagative offshore programs. More information from APHIS will be coming.
