CSMS # 58616286 - Update to Deployment Dates for the Environmental Production Agency (EPA) Hydrofluorocarbons (HFC) Code in CBP’s CERTIFICATION and PRODUCTION Environments
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Hydrofluorocarbons (HFC) code was deployed to CBP’s CERTIFICATION environment today, December 5, 2023. The HTS flagging in CERT will also begin today, December 5, on the HTS codes related to HFCs. Trade should begin testing.
The code is expected to deploy to CBP’s PRODUCTION environment no earlier than January 6, 2024. A CSMS will be sent out in the future to confirm this date.
NOTE: EPA expects that there will be another update to the EPA supplemental to the CATAIR based on input from the Trade community during CERT testing.
The American Innovation and Manufacturing Act provides EPA with the authority to oversee the production and consumption of hydrofluorocarbons, which are highly potent greenhouse gases. In accordance with 40 CFR 84.31(c)(7), EPA requires that the information be electronically filed (through ACE) by the importer of record (or the authorized agent filing on its behalf) prior to the date of importation.
