CSMS # 54349948 - Modernized Customs Broker Regulations: ACE Broker Account Permit Transition Activities
On December 19, 2022, the Modernized Customs Broker Regulations will be effective and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will deploy Broker Reporting and National Broker Permit enhancements in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). In connection with the shift to the national permit framework, CBP will be performing the following activities within the ACE broker account permit records:
- Week of December 12
- CBP will activate all pending national permits in ACE (Modernized Portal) that were created for brokers with only a district (local) permit. This activity will not have any effect on brokers already holding an active national permit.
- Week of December 19
- CBP will cancel all active local permits in ACE (Legacy Portal). Local permit records will still be visible in ACE (Legacy Portal) and also in the Modernized Portal under the “Cancelled Permits” tab.
- CBP will transfer employee lists from local permits to the national permit in the Modernized Portal.
- Trade users will have ability to view the prior employee lists from Legacy Portal local permit screens.
- Brokers should verify the employee list information transferred to the national permit to ensure it is accurate.
- Any employees missing from the list on the national permit record should be setup using the new features in Modernized Portal which includes “Add Employee” to add a single employee or using the “Bulk Upload” feature for multiple employees.
