CBP has recently noticed that some shipments from Ireland have had manufacturer identification (MID) numbers and addresses with the ISO code IR, which is the code for Iran. The correct ISO code for Ireland is IE. This is a friendly reminder to use the correct ISO country code when creating MID numbers and writing addresses. This will help to avoid unnecessary delays in cargo processing. Please also ensure that all existing MID numbers are updated to accurately reflect the true country of origin.
An updated list of ISO country codes can be found here: https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#search/code/
Please contact Daniel Collier at (202) 863-6225 or daniel.collier@cbp.dhs.gov should you have any questions.
