Office of the CIS Ombudsman Teleconference Series

USCIS Processing of Spousal Petitions to Remove Conditions on Residence (Form I-751)

Dear Stakeholder:

On July 26, 2018, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm EDT, the Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman will host a teleconference to discuss USCIS processing of Spousal Petitions to Remove Conditions on Residence (Form I-751).

The Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, is required for couples married for less than 2 years at the time the foreign national spouse received conditional permanent resident status.  The Form I-751 can be filed jointly or self-petitioned, and must demonstrate that the marriage was entered into for bona fide reasons, meaning without fraud.

The Ombudsman’s Office invites stakeholders to join us for a robust discussion on USCIS’ current policies and adjudication practices surrounding the Form I-751.  Our discussion will include: strategies stakeholders have adopted to overcome adjudication challenges; available recourse for wronged U.S. sponsors; and ways that USCIS can improve the overall process, specifically addressing recommendations made by the Ombudsman’s Office in 2013.

We will reserve time at the end of our teleconference to take questions and feedback from the public.

We invite the public to register for this important teleconference using the link below.
