Programs like USDA Rural Development’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) are so important because they help farmers and business owners invest in their operations, contributing directly to the vitality, versatility, and sustainability of Ohio’s rural economies that support and sustain our rural communities.
NEW - Training and Technical Assistance for Rural, Small and Tribal Municipalities and Wastewater Treatment Systems for Clean Water Act Prevention, Reduction, and Elimination of Pollution
EPA announced the availability of $49 million in new technical assistance funding under the Clean Water Act to help rural and Tribal communities address critical wastewater and water quality challenges. Applications are due electronically by 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on 11/25/2024, at Grants.gov.
USDA Disaster Assistance for Ag Producers in Ohio Impacted by Drought
Agricultural operations in Ohio have been significantly impacted by recent drought. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has technical and financial assistance available to help farmers and livestock producers recover from these adverse weather events. Impacted producers should contact their local USDA Service Center to report losses and learn more about program options available to assist in their recovery from crop, land, infrastructure, and livestock losses and damages.
Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Program
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that federal Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) are available in Ohio for small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations with economic losses from drought that began on Sept. 17.
Interagency Working Group (IWG) on Coal & Power Plant Communities
The IWG engages with state and local officials across the political spectrum, community groups, labor unions, corporations, investors, colleges and universities, philanthropic groups, and others to listen to needs and prioritize and coordinate federal actions that support efforts to facilitate economic revitalization in communities transitioning from coal and other power sources.
System for Award Management (SAM)
A SAM registration is required for to bid on and get paid for federal contracts or to receive federal funds. These include for-profit businesses, non-profits, government contractors, government subcontractors, state governments, and local municipalities. The SAM registration is valid for one year from the date the registration is complete and must be renewed before 60 days of expiration to avoid potential penalties. There is no fee required to register and / or renew with SAMS.
