USDA Invests in Colleges and Universities
Serving Alaska Natives and Native Hawaiians, Prepares Students for Careers in
Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resources
WASHINGTON, Nov. 2, 2017 – The
U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Institute of Food and
Agriculture (NIFA) today announced support for three projects to strengthen the
capacity of Alaskan and Hawaiian educational institutions to reach underserved
students and prepare them for careers in food, agriculture, and natural
resources. These awards are made through NIFA’s Alaska Native- and Native
Hawaiian-Serving (ANNH) Institutions Education Competitive Grants
Program.
USDA Aims to Improve Food and Nutrition Education for Low-Income
Communities
WASHINGTON, Nov. 1, 2017 – The
U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and
Agriculture (NIFA) today announced support for 35 projects to develop local and
self-reliant food systems, such as farm to table enterprises, which bring nutritious
food to low-income communities. This funding is available through NIFA’s
Community Food Projects Competitive Grant Program, authorized by the 2014 Farm
Bill.
