USDA Animal Care has posted the presenters’ slides from the primate symposium we held this spring so all interested stakeholders can access this valuable information.

The symposium, hosted by our Center for Animal Welfare, gathered primate experts from across the country to share their expertise on the physical and psychological well-being of primates to help those who care for captive primates enhance the welfare of their animals. Topics included: behavioral enrichment; neonatal care; geriatric care; and proper nutrition.

“We had a good turnout, and believe the information presented will support participants in meeting the special welfare needs of their primates,” said Gwen Maginnis, Animal Care’s primate specialist. “And by posting the slides from the presentations, the entire regulated community and all our stakeholders can now benefit from the symposium.”

You can find all the presentation materials here.

At USDA Animal Care, ensuring the welfare of the animals we regulate is at the heart of everything we do.
