APHIS to Lead Development of Old World Bollworm Response Plan
This spring, APHIS’ Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) and the University of Florida will invite multiple Federal agencies, international and university researchers, major agricultural industry and commodity representatives, and Cooperative Extension Service representatives to a meeting to develop a strategic response plan for Helicoverpa armigera, also known as Old World bollworm (OWB). The response plan will include protection, detection, response, and recovery action plans to address the potential impact, spread and establishment of OWB in the United States. The meeting will be held April 4-6, 2016, in Gainesville, FL.
