Additional Resources

  1. Service Year Referrals Page
  2. Service Year Referral Messaging Toolkit

During our last two AmeriCorps State and National monthly recruitment calls, a question was raised about whether currently serving members can accept gift cards or other monetary incentives for referring prospective members to apply and/or serve.

Use of AmeriCorps grant funding for recruitment and retention incentives/performance awards are allowable to the extent they are:

  1. reasonable, necessary, and allowable for program outcomes;
  2. tied to the program narrative;
  3. fair;
  4. consistently applied; and
  5. part of the organization’s written policies and procedures.

Please contact your portfolio manager with any additional questions about what is allowable.
