Dear members and leaders,

Each year, AmeriCorps VISTA conducts a review of the living allowance rates to ensure compliance with our governing legislation. The review factors in the Health and Human Services poverty guidelines, as well as county-by-county cost of living data, to produce living allowance rates for the areas where our members and leaders serve. The 2022 living allowance review is now complete.

As part of this year’s living allowance review, AmeriCorps VISTA also accounted for the current 40-year historic high rate of inflation. As such, all members will receive at least a 7% living allowance increase. Additionally, the minimum living allowance (currently $15,002) will be raised to $17,600, meaning that many members will see an increase of more than 7%.

This year’s living allowance increase will go into effect on August 14. To find your living allowance rate, visit the AmeriCorps website. 

The updated rates will begin accruing on Sunday, August 14, meaning the first paycheck to reflect these adjustments will be in early September. Please note that the living allowance rates listed in the table are gross, pre-tax amounts, and the actual pay may vary to reflect the number of days served in a pay period.
