During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Office of Research has been committed to timely research and data analyses that inform our understanding of the financial challenges facing consumers.

We’ve produced a series of publications that monitor changes to household and consumer credit over the course of the pandemic. The following blogs and reports document our latest findings:

• Delinquencies on credit accounts continue to be low during the pandemic
  An examination of delinquency rates through April 2021 on credit cards, auto loans, mortgages, and student loans during COVID-19.
• New data show improving yet sustained housing insecurity risks
  A look at mortgage forbearance and the current risks of housing insecurity through June 2021.
• Trends in payment assistance during COVID-19
  A review of trends in consumers’ use of payment assistance in order to stay current on different forms of credit.
• Credit applications recovered to pre-pandemic levels by spring 2021
  A look at changes in applications for new credit during the pandemic.
