TIGERweb v3.0 Now Available

TIGERweb v3.0 is now available. The TIGERweb viewer and streaming map services have been updated with new boundaries and features from our 2013 Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS13) benchmark, which include updates as of August 2012 with boundary annexation data effective as of January 1, 2012.

Highlights of this release:

  •  Added 113th Congressional district boundaries (January 2013-January 2015)
  • Updated boundaries with annexation data effective as of January 1, 2012
  • Features added as of August 2012
  • Added 2010 Census population and housing unit counts to additional layers
  • Populated additional attributes for selected layers
  • Correction of known software issues and data errors

The map viewer, web map services, and HTML data tables now include the 113th Congressional district boundaries, new state legislative districts, and other boundaries and features from our MAF/TIGER database as of August 2012 as part of the current view. The BAS13 TIGERweb data files in HTML format have been added.

We have added the 2010 Census population and housing unit counts to additional 2010 Census layers.   These updates are available in the map viewer, the streaming map services, and the HTML data tables. The population and housing counts are now available for:

  • Metropolitan and Micropolitan Statistical Areas and Related Statistical Areas
    • Metropolitan and Micropolitan Statistical Areas
    • New England City and Town Areas (NECTAs)
    • Combined NECTAs
    • Combined Statistical Areas
  • Incorporated Places
  • ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs)
  • Regions
  • Divisions
  • Public Use Microdata Areas (PUMAs)

In addition, the 2010 Census population and housing unit counts were added to the following HTML data tables:

  • 111th Congressional districts
  • 2010 Census tabulation blocks
  • Block groups
  • Census designated places (CDPs)
  • Census tracts
  • Counties
  • County Subdivisions
  • State
  • Subbarrios
  • Unified school districts
  • Urban areas

There are several changes to the map services available in the streaming map services and the map viewer:

  • Removed American Community Survey (ACS) 2010 data
  • Added ACS 2012 data
  • Modified labels for Incorporated Places, Census Designated Places, Urbanized Areas, and Urban Clusters
  • Added new web mapping service (WMS) named tigerWMS_ACS2012 , which will correspond with the 2012 ACS data

There were several issues resolved in this release:

  • Multiple layers can be queried simultaneously within a map layer
  • Labels changed to reflect new source
  • Legend file updated to reflect the changes in symbology for some layers
  •  HTML data files for 2010 ZCTA replaced to add missing records
  • Island area records added to the national region and division HTML data files
  • Island area records added to the state unified school district HTML data files
  • 2010 population and housing unit counts corrected in Island Area layers
